SydneyThe North Oldham Baptist Church Youth Band leads the worship music on Sunday nights during the Sunday Night Live event

Everyone is invited to attend the SNL worship service. John Patrick continued in part three of the series Satisfied: “All Things New: Joy” from John 2:1-12.  The Apostle John talks about the people he is writing to as being religious people who are comitted to “religion”, but their religion has become empty and lifeless — boring.  John compares knowing God through Jesus to boring, routine religion.  He challenges us to examine our lives and ask, “Am I pursuing a relationship with Jesus, or am I just being religious?”

John emphasized that Jesus gives us “joy” - lasting joy, soul-satisfying joy, and joy when religion runs out.

Jesus gives us joy in three ways:  by forgiving sin (John 16:20-22); restoring us to the Father (John 16:24), and by enabling us to walk in obedience to the Father (John 15:1-11).

jam sessionJoin us next Sunday when John will discuss “All Things New:  How We Relate to God” from John 2:13-3:36.
